Yoga is an ancient practice dated about 5,000 years whose philosophy and practice leads the student to a more peaceful and healthier body, mind and spirit. Yoga is an invitation to authentic and compassionate living while healing ones body and mind of the patterns that hold us back.
3. Is Yoga a religion?
No. Yoga and its timeless philosophy is a study into ones habitual patterns of holding back our fullest potential of health. The practice helps us see and choose healthier healing roads for optimal joyful living. It is an non-denominational practice that can enrich our own individual foundational belief's that embraces and respects all paths.
4. Do I need to be in good physical condition?
Yoga is for all body types and ages. The practice can be modified to meet you at your own physical ability.
5. Can Yoga be physically healing? What are the benefits?
Yes, there are many health benefits to Yoga. Studies show that Yoga can decrease blood pressure, lower levels of stress hormones, decrease depression and anxiety, promote healthier drainage of the lymphatic system, improve posture and muscle tone, and protect against injury to joints. The meditative and physical qualities of Yoga can also enhance the total immune and nervous systems. More and more doctors are recommending Yoga and meditation for their healing and relaxing qualities.
6. What should I wear to Yoga class?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing, such as light cotton shorts or pants and a T-shirt or tank top. Your clothing should be comfortable to stretch and move in. Mats are available at the center, or you can bring your own.
7. When should I arrive at the Yoga center?
Arrive ten minutes prior to the start of class, and please sign in with the teacher in the beginning of each class. Be sure to eat an hour or more before class to enable proper digestion.
8. Please inform the teacher of any medical concerns with doctor approval to practice yoga if there is a physical issue.
